Hy-Vee issues recall for Summer Fresh Pasta Salad
Apr. 28, 2015 8:44 pm
DES MOINES - Hy-Vee has issued a recall for its self-branded Summer Fresh Pasta Salad due to possible Listeria contamination.
In a release, the store said it was notified the frozen vegetables, produced by Jefferson, Georgia-based Inventure Foods, used to make the ready-to-eat pasta were potentially contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.
The Mayo Clinic says the bacteria can cause fever, aches and nausea if it should infect healthy people, but can pose serious problems during pregnancy and for newborns.
The recalled pasta is packaged upon customer request from the kitchen cold case and is also available from the salad bar. It comes in 16- or 32-ounce containers and would have been available in a limited number of stores between April 9 and April 27, the grocery store said. Those who have purchased it are instructed to dispose of it or return it to the store for a refund.
The product has already been removed from stores in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota, the company said.
So far, Hy-Vee says it has not received any complaints associated with the Summer Fresh Pasta Salad. Anyone with questions is asked to call the company's customer support line: 1-800-722-4098.
