Swanson dedicated to Kirkwood board
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I am writing in support of the re-election of John Swanson to the Kirkwood Community College board of trustees from director District 9.
As one of the original staff members of Kirkwood Community College, I was able to observe the major role and importance of board leadership in support of the administrative staff, faculty, and students of the college. Kirkwood's incredible development and current recognition as one of the nation's best and most progressive community colleges is in large measure because of the vision, dedication and commitment of a consistently exceptional board of directors.
As a former staff colleague of Swanson, I had the opportunity to witness his dedication and commitment to the college, students and student success. I was very pleased to see his election to the Kirkwood board four years ago because I knew he would carry on with the same dedication and commitment of past board members. This commitment can be seen not only in his nearly perfect attendance at board meetings, but also in his participation in college events involving students, faculty and alumni. Swanson also has served this community well in leadership roles on many local boards.
