Kirby, John Francis
John Francis Kirby, 63, a resident of Kewanee, Ill., formerly of Anamosa, died at the Royal Oaks Care Center Friday, July 29, 2011. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Kristopher Kirby of Madrid, Iowa, Kelly (Tracey) Kirby of Cedar Rapids, and Kendolynn (Dan) Kirby of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren London, Aubree and Taylor; great-grandchild, Maci; siblings, Lois (Francis) Boeding of Hopkinton, Helen (Gilbert) Becker of Cedar Rapids, Ann (Gary) Siddell of Coggon, Lorraine (Al) Remington of Marion, Bill (Esther) Kirby of Anamosa, Marjorie Burgess of Anamosa, George (Sharon) Kirby of Cedar Rapids, Betty Felton of Anamosa, and Katie (Don) Chapman of Springville; sister-in-law, Sherry Kirby of Anamosa; brother-in-law, Glenn Lange of Springville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Lange; brothers, Don and Ed Kirby; and a brother-in-law, Bill Felton.
John Francis Kirby was born Jan. 8, 1948, in Winthrop, Iowa, to Francis and Artazena (Carradus) Kirby. He liked baseball and was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs. He was also a big Iowa Hawkeye fan. Being around family was important to John and he loved music and to dance.
A memorial fund has been established.
