Dewey, Harvey Wellington
CEDAR RAPIDS - Harvey Wellington Dewey, 66, of 272 Porters Glen, New London, N.C. 28127, passed away Oct. 9, 2010, at his home. A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Chandler's Grove United Methodist Church of the Badin Lake Community, New London. The Rev. Derald Smith will officiate. A reception will follow at Old North State Club. Additional services will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at Young Funeral Home in China, Mich. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Mich.
Born Nov. 23, 1943, in St. Clair, Mich., he was the son of the late Donald Romain Dewey and the late Freeda Pauline Cody Nichols. He was also preceded in death by his son, Scott Wellington Dewey.
He was a retired engineer for Quaker Oats in Chicago and worked in eight states. He was of the Episcopal faith.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Alice Strong Dewey of the home; daughter, Heather Lynn Wagner and husband Douglas of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Emma Sharrow of Port Huron, Mich., Elmer Dewey and wife Carol of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Don Dewey and wife Edie of Sebring, Fla.; grandsons, Bradley Wellington Lock and Joshua Hobart Wagner of Cedar Rapids; exchange children, Soren Petersen of Denmark, Pia Ciasullo of Uruguay and Teresa Grilo of Portugal, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
