Ludwig, Elizabeth Louisa Rae

Elizabeth Louisa Rae Ludwig, of Alpharetta, Ga., formerly of Athens, Ga., died July 3, 2011. She was born Nov. 12, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she grew up.

She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Sandra Ludwig of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Dr. Joseph Ludwig of Houston, Texas; and sister, Katrina Marie Evans, brother-in-law, Christopher Evans, nephew, Cooper, and niece, Delaney Evans, of Athens, Ga. Elizabeth was engaged to be married to Joseph Ryan Moffit of Cumming, Ga.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Hofeldt of Davenport and Joseph and Elinor Ludwig of New York, N.Y., and Davenport; and her niece, Eleanor Rae Evans of Athens, Ga.

She graduated from Iowa State University in Ames and Mercy College of Nursing in Des Moines. She began her career at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Ga., and continued her nursing career at Northside Hospital Forsyth. Beth loved nursing and providing care to her patients.

Beth lived an active, joyful life scuba diving, horseback riding, and annually biking across the state of Iowa (RAGBRAI).

Elizabeth was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt and was treasured and loved deeply by her family and her friends.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord & Stephens East in Athens, Ga. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens.
