Iowa Legislature bills not good for reputation
The Gazette Opinion Staff

It's becoming clearer why folks from other states make fun of Iowans. Bills in the Iowa Legislature to make traffic cameras and photos of animal abuse illegal are examples. For a farm state to accept animal abuse as a way of doing business is not acceptable to most Iowans.
As for the traffic cameras, there are many reasons to support them. In Cedar Rapids, accidents, including fatalities, have been reduced; law enforcement can put more officers in areas to prevent or solve crime; camera tickets do not affect a person's insurance or driver's license; there is an appeal process; no court costs, and the fine is reasonable.
