Carol L. (Melhus) Schirm, 71, of Cedar Rapids, lost a courageous battle with depression on June 23, 2018.
Her Celebration of Life
will be held at Teahen Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2018, with a service
at 11 a.m. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Pastor Travis Borkosky of Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
Carol Schirm, daughter of Clarence A. and Leona B. (Schminke) Melhus, was born Dec. 18, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. Carol was the proprietor of The Paxton, Sioux City, Iowa. She had a kind and generous heart and helped many people through tough times. Carol was a loving and proud mother who cherished her time with her two sons, Brian and Jeffrey. Carol especially enjoyed traveling to Germany with her mother and brother in 2000, which fulfilled her mother's lifetime dream. She enjoyed caring for her furry friends, shopping and was a loyal customer of QVC.
She is survived by her beloved partner in life, Rick Moses; her sister, Kathleen (William) Stickney, North Liberty; brother, Kenneth (Sheila) Melhus, Papillion, Neb.; nieces, Stacy (John) Stickney Ferguson, Minneapolis, and Kendra (Bobby) Malik, Omaha; nephews, Steven (Lynette) Stickney, Marion, Jon (Patti) Stickney, Barrington, Ill., and Michael (Abbey) Melhus, Herman, Neb.; 12 great-nieces and -nephews; and two adorable schnauzers, Riley and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her dear sons, Brian C. Schirm and Jeffrey A. Schirm; former husband, Charles I. Schirm; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
