How exciting to hear about the large solar projects in Eastern Iowa. The solar energy industry is poised for massive growth in Iowa. With the expanded state solar tax credit, the Iowa Supreme Court ruling to enter non-profits into power purchase agreements, and the decreased cost of panels, the expense for solar energy is usually paid off in 6-8 years. After that, the utility bill is offset and continues to provide significant savings to the consumer/investor. Many thanks to our legislative officials for believing in the economics and viability of this promising industry.
Sen. Rob Hogg continues to lead the effort to promote all forms of renewable energy. He understands the impact this clean healthy energy option would have on Iowans: creation of hundreds of new jobs, investment opportunity and decreased carbon emissions. A 280 kW array was installed at Luther College in 2012, with a local businessman as the investor. I look forward to hearing about investment in new solar initiatives, especially at our public universities. With Sen. Hogg's leadership, expertise from solar companies, and progressive investors, Iowa will have great success harnessing the sun's power. The sky is the limit with the sun as our source of energy.
