Supervisors need to stop arguing, fighting
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I read with interest the June 21 article, “More workers to be removed from auditor's purview,” concerning how the Linn County supervisors will be moving more employees from under the county auditor's supervision.
I wish the supervisors would quit their arguing, fighting, and stonewalling against the auditor. He was elected to his office by the citizens. The supervisors need to learn to keep their hands off his business and not secondguess what the auditor says or does.
I agree with the auditor when he says that this latest supervisor decision to remove more employees (Geographic Information Services) from under the auditor's supervision is “retribution” because the supervisors didn't like the Iowa Legislature's recent decision that county auditors do have the authority to audit.
I won't be voting for any of the supervisors who approve of this behavior and decision.
