Wilbur E. Bentrott, 87, of Wheatland, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center,
DeWitt. Me-morial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, by the Rev. John Cofield. Burial: St. Paul's Cemetery, Wheatland. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland, with a Masonic service at 1:30 p.m.
Born May 18, 1927, in Wheatland, he was the son of William and Ester Ihns Bentrott. He married Elizabeth Long on Jan. 15, 1947, in Cedar Rapids.
Wilbur previously owned Premium Oil Co. and Bentrott Pontiac. He was active in the Masons and was a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver. He also was on the town council and school board, as well as the Clinton County Sheriff's Reserves.
Wilbur was worthy grand patron of Order of the Eastern Star in 1989 for the state of Iowa. His served his country in World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; son, Craig (Karen) of Bettendorf; daughters, Dixie (James) Woolard of Wheatland, Kimberly (Roger) Vandewalle of DeWitt and Kelley (Donald) Frazier of Ivoryton, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Vernita Bolster of Walla Walla, Wash., and Blanche Garwood of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mervin.
