Anita J. Ihrig, 85, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. A memorial fund has been established in Anita's name.
Anita was born October 23, 1933, in Iowa City, the daughter of George and Stella Stramp Miller. She was a graduate of City High School. Anita married Robert Ihrig on May 1, 1955.
Anita was employed as an operator at Northwestern Bell. Later, Anita worked at The Budget Shop.
She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with friends at the casino. Most important to Anita was her family, especially her grandchildren, and her beloved Yorkies, Jake and Bree.
Anita is survived by her two sons, Robert (Becky) of Riverside and Randy of Iowa City; her daughter, Cheryl (Jarrod) Chalupa of Washington; five grandchildren, Amber, Kyle, Jacy, Cody and Jaden; six great-grandchildren: Macie, Liam, Tatum, Cael, Demi and Ella; her siblings, George "Butch" (Phyllis) Miller of Iowa City and Sandi Barger (Mel Gregory) of Atalissa; and nieces and nephews, Martie, Steven, Nick and Jenni.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; and her infant brother, Robert Allen.
