Brinson still looking for a home

Jeff Brinson's short and injury-riddled career with the Iowa Hawkeyes ended after the Orange Bowl. His next destination is news today in Florida, Brinson's home state.

The St. Petersburg native is apparently focusing on Central Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Brinson is hoping for a hardship waiver due to a family illness so he can begin his eligibility next season.

As a St. Petersburg native, Brinson first targeted South Florida, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Brinson visited coaches from USF back in March. But USF has at least seven running backs on scholarship next season and probably doesn't have room, according to Greg Auman, who covers USF for the Times. Auman also had a post online today.

Brinson's first season at Iowa got off to a slow start because of asthma. Last season, he never got untracked because of a foot injury and he eventually transferred in February.
