This Sunday, September 11th, 2011, the Cedar Rapids Jaycees are hosting a pancake breakfast to benefit the Cedar Rapids Out of the Darkness Walk, a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The breakfast will run from 8:30am-12:30pm at the Cedar Rapids Jaycees Center, 225 5th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk, occurring in Noelridge Park on September 17, raises money to fund vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives. Knowing that suicide is the 4thleading cause of death for adults between the age of 18 and 65, the Jaycees are hosting the pancake breakfast to raise additional money for the cause.
The breakfast will feature pancakes, hash browns, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee and milk. There is a recommended donation of $5.
Since recovering from the 2008 floods the Jaycees have been hosting monthly breakfasts to raise money for community causes like the Out of the Darkness Walk.
