Young, old would enjoy park fountain

It was encouraging to see The Gazette's coverage on June 17 of the plans for a major renovation of Greene Square Park. The park should be treated as an important part of our city's core, especially with its location between the public library and the museum of art.
What is missing is a significant feature such as a major fountain reminiscent of the original fountain that was a central feature of the park.
A good sized fountain might have many waterspouts and could be programmed to provide a real show. Additionally, it would be lighted at night and have a variety of colored lights.
A fountain would not compete with the large scale sculpture at the library and the proposed sculpture at the art museum. It would be attractive to everyone, young and old.
