Jameel McKay named co-Big 12 Player of the Week
Iowa State senior Jameel McKay was named co-Big 12 Player of the Week with Texas' Javan Felix, the league announced Monday.
McKay averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds in three wins last week while shooting 68.8 percent from the field. He had 20 points and 12 rebounds in Thursday's come-from-behind win over rival Iowa.
McKay was 7-for-10 from the free-throw line and has four double-doubles in nine games this season.
It's McKay's first conference Player of the Week award. The Marquette transfer was named Newcomer of the Week once last season.
McKay is the second Cyclone to be honored this season. Point guard Monte Morris was recognized Nov. 30.
