Gilliland, Richard A. 'Dick'
Richard A. “Dick” Gilliland, 77, of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at ManorCare in Cedar Rapids. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherri Gilliland; son, Todd Gilliland; four grandchildren, Amber, Kelsy, Blake and Tori; a great-granddaughter, Audri; and in-laws, Carl Brain, Myrna Madson, Jean and Larry Lacey, Jim and Janet Maddy, Dennis Eckley, Joe and Brenda Lamansky and Diana Eckley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann; and his sister, Mona.
Richard was born Aug. 27, 1935, the son of Wally and Fern (Rolland) Gilliland. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1953. On June 27, 1959, he married Mary Ann Eckley. Richard always worked as a truck driver, the last 10 years working for IDS.
Richard enjoyed fixing things, yard work, and time spent with his grandchildren, great-granddaughter and cat, Kalli.
