Courtney, Elizabeth V.
Elizabeth V. Courtney, 76, of Iowa City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross.
Elizabeth was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Riverside, the daughter of William and Anna (Liska) Lantz. She attended Riverside schools. On April 18, 1958, she married Perry Courtney in Iowa City.
Elizabeth had been employed for many years with the University of Iowa Laundry Service, retiring in 1989. She was a past president of VFW 3949 Ladies Auxiliary. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening and mushroom hunting.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Perry; their two daughters, Barbara (John) Boorman of Blackbird, Del., and Frances (Ron) Calvert of Iowa City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
