The Cedar Rapids Police Department has released more information today both about the identity of the victim in a car versus motorcycle accident, as well as the woman they are seeking who fled the scene.
In a media release, police identify the motorcyclist as Michael Allen Olson, 63, of Cedar Rapids. He remains in critical condition at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, according to the release.
The crash involving a single car and a motorcycle was reported at 3:17 p.m. Sunday at 20th Avenue and C Street SW, according to a news release.
The car's driver, who was not identified, fled on foot, so the crash is considered a hit-and-run, police said.
The motorcycle was identified as 2004 Yamaha model, while the car was a 2000 Honda Accord, according to the release. Police say the woman who fled the scene is described as being in her early twenties with long black hair, which may have been in a ponytail at the time of the accident. The Honda she had been driving was reported stolen on Sept. 26, and had license plates stolen from another vehicle. The license plates were also reported stolen that day, police said.
Police are seeking the public's help to find the car's driver. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) or text to CRIMES (274637) and in the message/subject, type 5227 and your tip. Information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
