Butler County deputy shoots domestic assault suspect

A Butler County Sheriff's deputy Tuesday shot Jeromy Jenkins, 39, in Shell Rock after he ignored commands and attacked deputies with an edged weapon.
Deputies were responding to a domestic assault call at 1008 Triangle Drive. When deputies encountered Jenkins behind the home, he immediately attacked them.
Jenkins is charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault and is currently hospitalized. The deputies involved in the incident were not injured. They are on administrative leave per standard procedure.
The case remains under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff's Office and Iowa DCI with the possibility of additional charges.
