Cedar Rapids man arrested after leading police on chase Saturday

A Cedar Rapids man is being charged with attempt to elude, driving while license under suspension, reckless driving, speed, failure to obey a traffic control device and driving with no insurance after leading a police chase early Saturday morning.
According to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Linn County Deputies initiated a traffic stop at around 1 p.m. on Saturday at Interstate 380 southbound at Wilson Avenue SW off ramp for speeding.
Shortly after, Nathan Bedell Jr, age 21, of Cedar Rapids, who was driving the suspect vehicle took off from deputies and went westbound on Wilson Avenue SW. The pursuit continued north onto Sixth Street SW and then west onto 15th Avenue SW. The pursuit continued west on 15th Avenue SW merging onto 16th Avenue SW and continued to Williams Boulevard. At Williams Boulevard the pursuit went north to 18th Street NW and continued north to Johnson Avenue NW. The suspect vehicle continued west on Johnson Avenue NW to the intersection of Johnson Avenue NW and Wiley Boulevard NW where the vehicle was then boxed in by deputies, according to the release.
Bedell was then apprehended by Linn County Deputies and taken to the Linn County Correctional Center. Two passengers, Yakira Burnett, age 19, and Donnesha Burnett, age 18, both of Danville Illinois, were detained for questioning. No injuries or property damage resulted from the pursuit, according to the release.
Cedar Rapids Police Department assisted with the incident and it remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
