SELMA KANELLIS Cedar Rapids Selma Arlene Kanellis, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at The Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, with a visitation beginning an hour before, at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven Knudson officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Selma was born Oct. 1, 1923, to Anton and Sigrid (Jerdee) Sanderson in Lawler, Iowa. Selma graduated from New Hampton High School in 1941. From 1941 to 1945, she worked at Bendex in Chicago before returning to Cedar Rapids. She married George Kanellis on Jan. 26, 1965, in Kewanee, Ill. Selma worked for Rockwell Collins as a secretary for 22 1/2 years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Selma is survived by her siblings, Kenneth (Velma) Sanderson of Fort Worth, Texas, Allan (Ann) Sanderson of Oelwein, Janice Ohm of New Hampton, Hazel Lantz of Waterloo and JoAnn Johnson of Cedar Rapids; dear friends, Bob and Helga Berry of Cedar Rapids; four stepchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Carmen and Richard Sanderson. The family would like to thank all the residents and staff from The Meth-Wick Community and Hospice of Mercy for their love, support and tender care given to Selma.
