MARY JEAN PARSONS

Mary Jean Parsons, 63, died Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Hopkinton Community Church, with interment in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Ryan. The Rev. Paul Finger will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been es-tablished.

Surviving are her husband, Norman; a daughter, Tanya (David) Otto, Hopkinton; her grandson, Ivan; three stepchildren, Julie (Mark) Adamson, Omaha, Neb., Norman Jr. (Laura). Sioux Falls, S.D., and Paul (Heidi Tritle), Spirit Lake; 11 stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Maxine) Beaman, Hopkinton, and Larry (Julie) Beaman, Delhi; her sister, Sue (Ron) Sawyer, Denver; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary Jean Beaman was born Dec. 5, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan and Geneva Turner Beaman. Mary graduated with the class of 1969 from West Delaware High School. She attended Paris Beauty Academy, Cedar Rapids, in 1971 and became a beautician. Mary started Armar Hair Design in the 1980s, a business she owned until her death. She married Norman Parsons on June 30, 2001, in Hopkinton. Mary loved to travel and also go to the area casinos.
