Kellison, Doris M.
Doris M. Kellison, 94, of Augusta, Maine, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Feb. 19, 2011, in Augusta. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. March 19 at Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 69 Winthrop St., Augusta.
Doris McBride Kellison was born Jan. 23, 1917. She lived with her adoptive parents, Lewis and Cora McBride, in and near Oswego, N.Y. In 1942, she married the Rev. Walter E. Kellison and moved to Biddeford, Maine to begin life as a minister's wife. The couple subsequently lived in Caribou and Augusta, Maine, as well as Farmington, Mich., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She returned to Maine in 2006 as her health declined.
A graduate of the Rochester Business Institute, Doris used her secretarial skills doing church work until she began transcribing medical records at St. Luke's Hospital. She left there to become secretary for Internists, PC, from which she retired in 1982.
Doris was predeceased by her husband; and their daughter, Judith.
She is survived by son, Walter of Cedar Rapids; and daughter, Kathy of Windsor, Maine. She also leaves her grandson, Abraham, his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters, Amira and Marina, of Cedar Rapids; and her granddaughter, Ida and fiance Jeff Stoll of Jamaica Plain, Mass.
