Marian Alexander, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at her place of residence. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a time of food and remembrance for all friends and family to attend at Christ Community UMC, 3000 Alburnett Rd., Marion.
Marian was born Dec. 28, 1929, in New Albin, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Alma Pottratz. Marian worked for the button factory in Lansing for 15 years. Marian married Charles Alexander on Sept. 4, 1954. They moved to Cedar Rapids and she worked for Wilson's Packing House for 20 years.
Marian is survived by her son, Kurt (Sheryl) Alexander; her daughter, Betty (DJ) Bents and son-in- law, John Beck; eight grandchildren, Randy, Melissa, David, Jamison, Jacob, Sarah, Ava and Zion; three great-grandchildren, Hailei, Dakota and Sawyer; two great- great-grandchildren, DeShaun and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; a brother; her husband; her daughter, Linda Pettit; and her son, Larry Alexander.
Marian will be greatly missed by her family.
