Lee, Shirley J.
Shirley J. Lee, 77, of Riverside, formerly of Fort Madison, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 1:25 p.m. at her daughter's home in Nixa, Mo. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison, with the family to meet with friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Bakker officiating. Burial will be held in Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk.
She was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Wayne S. and Mary M. Dennis Watson. She married Vern E. Lee on Jan. 3, 1952, in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1993. She worked for 25 years as a branch manager at Lee County Savings Bank, where she retired. She then worked at Terrible's Casino in Osceola, Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington and Riverside Casino in Riverside.
Shirley is survived by one daughter, Charlene (Ron) Nelson of Nixa, Mo.; one son, Randy Lee of North Liberty; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Douglas Lee.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. John's Hospice in Springfield, Mo.; contributions may be left at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
