Raker, Arlene M.
Arlene M. Raker, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service begins at 5:30 p.m.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Harry; four children, John Matthew Raker of Cedar Rapids, Philip James Raker and wife Melissa and their two sons, Evan and Nathan of Cedar Rapids, Amy Clemons and husband Jason of Iowa City, and Andrew Lee Raker of Cedar Rapids; sister, Norma Kenyon and husband Robert of St. Louis Park, Minn.; two half sisters, Evelyn Colbert and husband James and Joyce Middleton and husband Cecil “Scotty,” all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Ellen and Lynne; her parents, Virgil and Grace (Secora) Fuller; and a brother, Reuben Rovang.
Arlene was born May 22, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, and lived here most of her life. She married Harry W. Raker on June 8, 1972, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Arlene was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Catholic Conception Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and especially loved being with her grandsons.
A memorial fund has been established.
