McCabe, Ada
Ada McCabe, 89, of Tipton, formerly of Torrance, Calif., died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living. Per her wishes there will be no formal service.
Ada Alvaretta Clemons, the youngest of seven children, was born Aug. 29, 1922, in McWillie, Okla., to Leander C. and Edna May (Scott) Clemons Jr. Ada graduated from the Aline, Okla., school and married Charles A. Vore in 1941; he died in 1945. She then married John O. McCabe on June 6, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nev. Ada and John lived most of their life in Torrance, Calif., where they enjoyed traveling and participating in barbershop quartet singing and S.P.A.E. B.S.Q. S.A. Ada was a Cub Scout Pack leader with her son and was very active in her local PTA.
When more care became necessary they moved into the Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center in Tipton, where they could be closer to their family. Ada quietly entered eternity at 11:30 Friday morning with her family at her bedside.
Ada is survived by her loving husband, John O. McCabe, who resides at Prairie Hills in Tipton; daughter, Charlene (Mrs. Larry) Myers of Bennett, Iowa; son, Charles (Sharon) Vore of Jonesboro, Ark.; grandchildren, Ken (Bobbie) Myers of Prairie du Sac, Wis., Kelly (Lamai) Myers of Clarksville, Tenn., and Douglas (and fiancee Brandy) Myers of Ottumwa; great-grandchildren, Leo Myers of Clarksville, Tenn., Marie (Matthew) Neece of Irvine, Calif., and Allison (and fiance Kaleb) Myers of Baraboo, Wis.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Chella; sisters, Leone, Faith, Ruth, Alta and Grace; and brother, Leslie.
