Chicago man killed in hit-and-run crash; semi driver sought

UPDATE: One person died after being hit by a semi-trailer truck Thursday morning in a hit-and-run crash near Tiffin, and the Iowa State Patrol is now looking for that semi.

Officials said the semi was westbound on Interstate 80 near Tiffin around 3:30 a.m. Thursday when the accident happened. The semi then continued westbound.

The State Patrol said a North Chicago man was walking toward the back of his vehicle when the semi struck him. They have identified the victim as Rolando Calderon-Yescas, 34. Officials said they aren't sure why he had pulled over to the side of the road and got out of his vehicle. Troopers also said they're not sure if the semi driver knew he'd hit a person.

Troopers are looking for any help in locating this semi. They said the semi possibly had a white cab and has damage to the front left of the cab. Anyone who has information should call Iowa State Patrol at (319) 396-1944.
