Hoefer, Linda Mae
Linda Mae Hoefer, 73, a resident of Northbook Manor Care, formerly of 309 Jacolyn Dr. NW, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Private family services will be Monday, Aug. 19. Interment: Czech National Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Hoefer Kalell and husband Alan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her grandchildren, Jordan and Lindsey; her brother, Ray Vecerka (Susie) of Cedar Rapids; her brothers-in-law, Charles Hoefer, Cedar Rapids, and Art and Karen Hoefer, Swisher; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; and her parents, Roman and Lillian Vecerka.
A lifelong Cedar Rapids resident, Linda enjoyed attending NASCAR races in Kansas City and watching her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. She was an avid baker, had an extensive cookbook collection, was proud of her Czech heritage and loved a good Kolache.
She met Lyle in 1963 at Armar Ballroom, where they both loved to dance. They married June 19, 1965, and were the perfect couple, having spent 42 years together.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation at www.blueribbonfoundation.org.
