Graham 'Doug, ' Douglas Julian
CEDAR RAPIDS - Douglas Julian Graham “Doug,” 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at home with his family after a rapid decline in illness.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; three children: sons, Doug (Christine) Graham of Cedar Rapids and Michael (Jane) Graham of the United Kingdom, and daughter, Patricia (Jonathon) Oakley of the United Kingdom; siblings, Max Graham of Oklahoma and Jean Herbert of the United Kingdom; stepchildren, Raymond (Sally) Orton, Anthony (Lynn) Orton and Marilyn Orton, along with grandchildren, and his beloved pet, Gigi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jean; and his brother, Jerry.
Doug was born on the Island of Guernsey. At the age of 15 he enlisted in the Royal Navy. One of his defining characteristics was his love for his work. He emigrated from the United Kingdom with Jean in the early 1980s. He worked for Colsa Corporation in Huntsville, Ala., and established strong relationships in the community before retiring and relocating to Iowa.
The family had a private service on Sept. 29, 2010.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Doug's name to Hospice of Mercy. 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
