Avis Irene Leitch, 84, a longtime resident of the Cedar Rapids/Swisher area, left this world on Dec. 31, 2015, to join Tom, her husband of 61 years, who preceded her in death in 2009. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 3, at Cedar
Memorial Westside Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Avis was born April 6, 1931, the daughter of Daniel and Lillian Hanson in Staples, Minn. She married the love of her life, Tom Leitch, on April 29, 1949. They farmed together in West Union until they moved to Cedar Rapids in 1969.
Avis is survived by her five children, Laura Ryan (Bill), Joel, Susie Berk (Jeff), Kathy Riggle (Ron) and Sam; as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
