Foley, Raymond C.
Raymond C. Foley, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, of 54 years; children, Diana (Chuck) Langguth, Steven (Rhonda) Foley and Teresa (Chuck) Strain, all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, George, Ronnie and Dickie; and sisters, Jennette Feye and Marcella Bankes.
Ray was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Seneca, Wis., to Richard and Imogene Hazel Foley. Ray married Frances Perrin in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 18, 1954. He was an assembler at Cherry Burrell for over 32 years, retiring in 1994. Ray was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the VFW in both Wisconsin and Iowa.
Ray was a super husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved watching his grandkids when involved in activities. He loved bowling, playing horseshoes, and sitting on the porch with his dog, Biscuit.
