Barrett, Mary Eileen (Decker)

Mary Eileen (Decker) Barrett, 93, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Sable Palms in Largo, Fla. Services will be held June 4, 2010, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Clearwater, Fla. Burial of ashes to follow at Clearwater Cemetery.

Mary Eileen was born in Buchanan County on Aug. 5, 1916, the daughter of John William and Mary (McElroy) Decker. Eileen grew up near Winthrop. She graduated from Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Eileen taught in the country schools of Buchanan County. On Feb. 11, 1941, she married Robert P. Barrett in Winthrop. They farmed in the Rowley area prior to moving to Cedar Rapids. They retired to Clearwater, Fla. In 1976.

Eileen is survived by a daughter, Anne Haworth of Clearwater; two sons, Robert J. (Anita) of Hiawatha, and Patrick (Connie) Barrett of Largo; five grandchildren, Julie (Doug) Pace, Ryan Barrett, Robert (Kim) Haworth, Jim (Becki) Haworth and Katherine (Dan) Hines; nine geat-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Decker of Winthrop; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; three brothers, Jay, Bernard and Dale Decker; and one sister, Stella (Decker) Gallery.
