Longerbeam-Thiher, Marian J.
Marian J. Longerbeam-Thiher, 96, of Marion, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda S. (Don) Magnuson of Marion; her brother, Vern (Alberta) Svoboda of Mechanicsville; her sister-in-law, Arlene Svoboda of Mechanicsville; her grandchildren, Lori Tilden of Cedar Rapids, Paula (Mike) McCullough of Atkins, Richard (Carol) Longerbeam of Marion, Kenneth (Sharon) Mercer of What Cheer, Janet (Jon) Hurd of Kirksville, Mo., Kristine Giovannini of Kirksville, Mo., Rick (Barb) Mercer of Chicago, Kirk Mercer of Texas, Todd (Joy) Longerbeam of Watauga, Texas, Donald (Evie) Coppess of Hot Springs, Ark., Delbert (Bev) Coppess of California, Dennis (Linda) Coppess of Stanwood, Darren (Sheryl) Coppess of Stanwood and Deb (Mike) Bixler of Clarence; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil A. Longerbeam; two brothers, Charles and Glenn Svoboda; her children, Lulu Coppess, Marilyn Baker, Richard Longerbeam Sr. and Lynn Longerbeam; and grandchildren, Brian Longerbeam, Lynn Mercer and Deanna Campbell.
Marian was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Lisbon, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Ruble) Svoboda. She married Virgil A. Longerbeam on Sept. 16, 1935. Marian was a homemaker. She loved to cook and made the best chicken and noodles one could ever eat. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a strong person and a great role model and loved her Lord. She enjoyed collecting dolls, old music, watching reality TV and listening to singer Wayne Newton. Marian's favorite though was collecting Betty Boop items.
