Beck, Donald Quincy
Donald Quincy Beck, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Aug. 10, 2010, in his home following an extended illness. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Mo. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Westside Chapel.
Surviving are his wife, Claudette; children, Brenda Hampton and husband Tim of Cedar Rapids, Melissa Beck of Alexandria, Va., and Jef Beck of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Myles Hampton and Alisha Ruble; great-grandchild, Bryson Quincy; and his sister, Grace Herr and husband Robert of Keller, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce.
Donald Quincy Beck was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of John Henry and Dorothy Mildred (Anderson) Beck. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Claudette Elaine Jenkins on Dec. 16, 1960. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, VFW, and the Kansas City Branch of Postal Carriers Union 30.
His greatest enjoyment was time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations in Donald's honor may be made to Hospice of Mercy, 701 10th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403, who assisted with kind care in his last days.
