Juilfs, Marcella 'Maude'
Marcella “Maude” Juilfs, 89, resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, formerly of Onslow, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the care center following a long illness with Alzheimer's disease. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Friends may call one hour before services. Private family inurnment will take place at Wyoming Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include her twin sister, Maurine Smola of Central City; and brother, James (Del) Kirkpatrick of Sun Lake, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; seven brothers, Robert, William, Rollin, Kenneth, Glen and twins Chester and Cecil; and a sister, Clara.
Maude was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Florence (Wilkerson) Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1939. On Dec. 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Edwin Juilfs. The couple farmed near Onslow and moved to Maquoketa in 1975. They enjoyed bowling, traveling, and especially loved when their nieces and nephews would come out to their farm. Edwin passed away in 1996. Maude then moved to Central City at Three Oaks Village, where her sister, Maurine Smola lived. In 1998, she moved to Village Ridge in Marion, then to Monticello Nursing Home, and then to Willow Gardens in August 2010.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice in Maude's memory.
