Doll, Clarence

Clarence Doll, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Presbyterian Church, Onslow, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where Masonic Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday by the Olin Masonic Lodge. The Rev. Sharon Jensen will officiate at the services.

Surviving are two sons, Tom (Joyce) and Mark (Kris), all of Onslow; four grandchildren, Delaina (John), Kristina, Scott (Kelly) and Michelle (Guy); two stepgrandchildren, Eric (Rachel) and Sara; eight great-grandchildren, Reili, Greyson, McKenna, Colt, Owen, Samuel, Spencer and Benjamin; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Tandilyn and Aaron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elmeree in 2002; a son, Michael; a daughter, MaraSue; and his sister, Wilma Kraklio in 2006.

Clarence William Doll was born March 13, 1918, in Delaware County, Iowa. He was the son of William and Mary Glauser Doll. Clarence started his education in the rural schools of Delaware County and completed his education at Onslow, graduating with the class of 1936. He then went on to attend Clinton Business College. Clarence Doll and Elmeree Nichols were married Dec. 21, 1938, at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Monticello. The couple farmed near Onslow until 1980 when they moved to Monticello. In 1985, the couple moved back to the Onslow Community.

Clarence was a member of the Onslow Presbyterian Church, the Onslow Masonic Lodge and later the Olin Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau, served on the Extension Council, was a 4 H Leader for the Onslow Corn Huskers, served on the Onslow City Council and the Onslow School Board.
