Kregel, Donald Edward
Donald Edward Kregel, 85, of Garnavillo, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010. Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 001 S. Industrial Park Rd., Garnavillo, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Garnavillo School Gymnasium. Interment will be at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Kregel; four children, Steve (Lynn) Kregel, John (Esther) Kregel, all of Garnavillo, Carolyn (Daryl) Aspenson of Gays Mills, Wis., and Patricia (Carl) Uhlenhopp of Marion; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Verda Mae Guyer and Kathryn Lange.
He was born the son of Arthur and Caroline (Wirkler) Kregel on Dec. 25, 1924, on the home farm near Garnavillo. After graduating from high school, he farmed with his dad and brother-in-law, Ray Lange. Then Don worked at the Garnavillo Mill for three years. Later he started farming in Osterdock for a couple years. On Nov. 15, 1947, Don was married to Elizabeth Lawson in Chicago. Some of Don's interests were his family, the Garnavillo Assembly and especially farming
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Garnavillo EMT, Garnavillo Library or the Central Community Hospital.
