Neuzil, Minnie I.
Minnie I. Neuzil, 98, of rural Iowa City, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at her home. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City, with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
Minnie Irene (Mills) was born April 7, 1915, in Iowa City, the daughter of Vernon and Mae Mills. She married Joseph T. Neuzil on June 28, 1932, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City, a union that would last over 60 years, until Joe's death. Minnie was a farm wife, taking care of the home and family her entire life.
Her family includes her children, Charles “Bud” Neuzil of Iowa City, Robert “Bob” Neuzil of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Kathy Holeton (Marvin) of Oxford; grandchildren, Mike Neuzil (Cindy), Tony Kay Bacon, Tricia Neuzil (Gudjon Jansson), Kevin Neuzil Sr. (Darlene Morgan) and Victoria Frueh (Ryan); 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church Altar & Rosary, the Union Township Women's Club (since 1940), the Eagles Women's Club (since 1953), a past 4-H leader and member of Farm Bureau Ladie's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandsons, Charles J. Neuzil Jr. and Roy Bacon; and daughters-in-law, Barbara Neuzil and Suzan Neuzil.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City Hospice or the Johnson County Visiting Nurses Association.
