Zierath, Marion Irene
Marion Irene Zierath, 84, of Marion, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Gathering of friends and family: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion, with a blessing at 2 p.m. Burial: Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Charles City, at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include four children, Marcia Leu of Fonda, Greg (Karen) Zierath of Marion, Lori (Brett) Nelson of Bloomington, Ind., and Larry Zierath of Ames; a sister, Arlette Gauger; three brothers, Alvin (Shirley) Davidson, Allen (Sharon) Davidson, and Lyle (Vera) Davidson; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Geneva Schlick; and three brothers, Glen, Oscar and Irving Davidson.
Marion was born June 26, 1927, in Blue Earth, Minn., the daughter of Alfred and Nora (Skogen) Davidson. On July 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Raymond C. Zierath in Nashua, Iowa. Marion retired from Sears and Roebuck after 20 years of service in human resources.
Marion was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
