Burnell, Alberta B.
Alberta B. Burnell, 95, of Independence, died Dec. 11, 2010, at Buchanan County Health Center LTC in Independence. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at White Funeral Home, Independence. Burial: Rowley Cemetery in Rowley. Visitation: 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Blanche (Leclere) Wenger. On March 7, 1932, she and Harold James Burnell were married in Waterloo. They farmed near Coggon and Rowley until they retired in 1981. Harold preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Burnell is survived by three sons, Jack (Marilyn) Burnell, Springville, and Keith Burnell and Rick Burnell, both of Rowley; one daughter, Verna Harms, Tipton; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Ford, Marion.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons; one great-grandson; one brother; two sisters and one daughter-in-law, Connie Burnell.
