Rose Elizabeth Schoon, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away of natural causes on Feb. 14, 2017.
Rose was born Dec. 22, 1930, in rural Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Pearl and Charles Jones. She was one of 14 children. After her graduation from Fort Dodge Senior High, she met Larry at the skating rink. They were married for over 50 years. Rose was active in the Lutheran Church by teaching Sunday School, serving on the Altar Guild, and many various committees. She also showed her love by baking. She will be remembered for making the best fudge, sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls ever!
Survivors include her daughter and husband, Judy and Jim Seiwald of Robins; granddaughters, their husbands, and her great-granddaughters, Jennifer, Jeff, Natalie and Emma Rowdon of Minneapolis, Bethany, Matt, Katrina and Allison Henning of Cedar Rapids and Laura, Mark and Lexi Kuboushek of Cedar Rapids.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence B. Schoon; and son, Daniel R. Schoon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave., Sioux City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 612 Jennings St., Sioux City, with lunch to follow. Burial will follow in Graceland Park Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, on March 6 at 11 a.m.
