Lenicek, Edna
Edna Lenicek, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Hala Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services Saturday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Edna was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Fairfax, the daughter of John and Mabel (Dow) Lenicek. She graduated from Fairfax High School. Edna earned a degree in music from Stephens College in Missouri and the University of Iowa. She taught music in Grand River, Shellsburg and Maynard for many years. Later she was director of activities at Waterloo East High School until her retirement.
Edna was very proud of her Czech Heritage. She was involved with many Czech and local organizations.
Edna is survived by her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered by Judy Serbousek and Jean Pata.
She was preceded in death by parents.
