Westrom, Maxine Rose Bockenstedt
Maxine's surviving siblings are Mary (Ben) Ryan, New Hampton, Dolly Tilp, Rock Island, Ill., Nancy (Roger) Beatty, Edgewood, and Judy Nurre, Edgewood, and many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren include, Josh (Tina) Wilson of New London, Wis., Jeremy (Emmy) Wilson of Greenville, Wis., Jack Wilson of Appleton, Wis., and Becca Hildebrand, Matt Hildebrand and Danny Westrom, all of Cedar Rapids. Great-grandchildren include, Carter Wilson, Tessa Wilson, Makenzie Wilson and Oliver Wilson.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; brother, Daniel Bockenstedt; and sister, Grace Griffin.
Maxine was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Greeley, Iowa, to Arthur and Stella Bockenstedt. Maxine graduated from Greeley High School and then entered nurses training at Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated with her RN degree in 1944 from Mercy School of Nursing, an affiliation of Loras College. She was a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for over 40 years. She touched many lives and found great satisfaction in her career. In 1954, she married Herbie Westrom at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Greeley, Iowa. He died in 2003. She recently moved to Winneconne, Wis.
She was an avid reader and took pride in being able to recite all of the U.S. presidents as well as her knowledge of the Bible. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed animals and nature, traveling, playing cards and had a great sense of humor.
We will always carry her memories fondly in our hearts.
