Ritchie DPM, Dr. John A.
He proudly served in the Army as an officer in the Korean War. He attended artillery and leadership schools and was discharged as a 1st lieutenant.
After his military service he attended the University of Iowa Graduate Program for a year-and-a-half and married Mary Kathryn Cummings on Aug. 11, 1956, in Waterloo. John later graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatry in Chicago in 1960.
John and Mary Kay moved to Cedar Rapids in September 1960 and he began a 38-year podiatry practice in Cedar Rapids and Vinton. He retired in 1998 from the work he loved.
With John, family came first. He had a great sense of humor and was active both in his practice and his church. He enjoyed travel, reading, dancing, music, fishing, golf and food.
He was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, the Cedar Rapids Loras Club and Knights of Columbus No. 5390. He was a life member of the Iowa Podiatry Society, Iowa State Podiatry Club and president of the American Podiatry Society.
John's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
