Swiser, Edna Marie Jungjohann
Edna Marie Jungjohann Swiser, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Memorial Service: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 29, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bob Voels. Visitation: 4 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Dave) Cowell of Durango; son, Chris (Laura) Swiser of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Shaun (Jes) Swiser and Adam (Samantha) Swiser, both of Cedar Rapids; great-grandson, Owen Swiser of Cedar Rapids; and a soon-to-arrive second great-grandchild.
Edna was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Davenport, Iowa, to Frank and Wilma (Priester) Jungjohann. She was the sixth of nine children. The family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1927. Edna married LeRoy Swiser on July 5, 1941. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She worked for Craemer's Department Store as manager and later for Holly's Men's Store. Both Edna and LeRoy were active in square dance for the Cedar Rapids Recreation Commission. Together, they enjoyed family and friends, bowling, fishing and traveling the country. Edna was one of the most caring, giving people you would ever meet, always thinking of others before herself.
