Martin Edna, Martin Edna
Edna Martin, 90, of Maquoketa, died Monday morning, Feb. 4, 2013, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland. A celebration of Edna's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursdayat the funeral home. Burial will be at Inland Cemetery, Bennett.
Edna Elizabeth Karoline Daude was born April 17, 1922, in Davenport, Iowa, to Henry and Melinda (Edler) Daude. She married Herschel H. Martin on Dec. 10, 1941, in Bennett. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2009.
Edna farmed with Herschel north of Bennett until their retirement. Her primary love was that of taking care of her family. She enjoyed painting, reading, gardening and sewing.
Edna was an intelligent gentle woman, with a zest for life and a sweet sense of humor that taught lessons of love.
Those left to honor Edna's memory include her children, Clyde (Barbara) Martin of Maquoketa, Dean (Linda) Martin of Anamosa, Donna Martin of Davenport and Kenneth (Dorthy) Martin of Blakesburg; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Lois Badtram; and s great-grandchild, Kyle.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, an Edna Martin memorial fund has been established.
