Virginette F. Domeyer, 91, of Manchester, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a 2:30 p.m. Scripture service. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Greeley.
Survivors include her children, Joyce Domeyer, Connie (James) Sjostrom, Marcia (Wayne) Burkle, Ann (Kevin) Burns and Christopher (Connie) Domeyer; 10 grandchildren, Tara (Robert) Stainton, Danielle (Jon) Eastman, Brian (Cristal) Burkle, Mindy (Chad) Hauser, Krista (Andy) Jepson, Nick (Abby Engelken) Burkle, Kirk (Emily) Burkle, Matthew (Bethany) Burns, Michelle Burns and Angie (Parker) Lazenby; and 16 great-grandchildren, Milan, Gus, Rowan, Ava, Cash, Jack, Willow, Oliver, Natalie, Ellie, Tessa, Payton, Grayson, Cecelia, Marielle and Morgan.
Virginette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel, in 2002; and her brothers and sisters, Julanda Koch, Ambrose Osterhaus, Raymond Osterhaus, Omer Osterhaus, Eugene Osterhaus, Marie Domeyer, Lester Osterhaus and Laverne Osterhaus.
Virginette was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Bruggeman) Osterhaus. On Jan. 14, 1948, she married Daniel H. Domeyer in Petersburg, Iowa. To this union, five children were born. She was a homemaker, farm wife and caregiver. She enjoyed cooking for family, gardening, canning, sewing and baking. She taught religious education at St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and volunteered with St. Mary's School, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Camp Courageous and Regional Medical Center. Most of all, Virginette enjoyed family time, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Good Neighbor Society, St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Greeley, St. Mary's School in Manchester or the donor's choice.
