Norris values substance over slogans

I've lived in Missouri, Georgia and Kansas and seen firsthand the effects of education and mental health service divestment brought on by conservative tax schemes like the one currently ripping through Iowa's budget. Elections have consequences, and those consequences are often foreshadowed in the details of a candidate's policies, not in their commercials or slogans.

We deserve a governor who values substantive policy details over what plays well on TV. I'm supporting John Norris for governor because his understanding of issues facing Iowans, urban and rural residents alike, is outstanding. Norris applied his knowledge to craft policies that may not fit easily into a chant but are designed to have the most positive and long-lasting effects.

Linking the minimum wage to the Federal Poverty Index at 130 percent makes the wage $15.37/hr and adjusts automatically. Tying farm assistance to sustainable practice implementation encourages conservation and restores soil and water health. Increasing income limits for benefit receipt and gradually weaning assistance as family earnings rise combats the childcare 'cliff effect.” Norris's intimate knowledge of the issues affecting Iowans shines in the details of his policies. We need a governor who sweats the details.

I believe John Norris is the only candidate with a progressive plan, the details to back it up, and the experience to implement it when he beats Kim Reynolds in November. The ads will stop running and the slogans will fade, but the details will last. Please join me in voting for John Norris on or before June 5.
