Cynthia "Cindy" Heims, 52, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Mercy Iowa City from complic-ations of pancreatic cancer. Services will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presby-terian Church in Iowa City. Pastor Sam Massey will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

Cynthia was born Dec. 17, 1961, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Sandra (Northup) McMillan. Growing up in Williamsburg, Cynthia graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1980. Upon graduation from Cosmetology College in Davenport, she returned to the Williamsburg area to work. In the mid-1980s, Cynthia moved to Iowa City and for many years worked at Rumours, Command Performance and The Wave Length salons. She later joined the team at Twin Image Salon Spa, where she continued to work until days before her death.
She married James "Jim" Heims on Oct. 6, 1999, at First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City.
Cynthia was very passionate about her faith with God. She treasured her time spent with family and friends. She had a love for everything Raggedy Ann and the Iowa Hawkeyes. When you met Cynthia, you knew immediately that you now had a forever friend.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; her father, Kenneth McMillan Jr. (Thelma) of Williamsburg; her mother, Sandra (Lawrence) Mossman of Blairstown; brothers and sisters, Angela Durkee of Williamsburg, Anthony McMillan (Bonnie) of Iowa City, Timothy McMillan (Connie) of Parnell, Matthew McMillan (Yeidi) of Summersfield, N.C., and Mitchell (Dawn) McMillan of Williamsburg; 10 nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Rosemary Heims-Turnis of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Douglas Heims (Stephanie) of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Heims of Cedar Rapids.
Cynthia was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sharon McMillan; and her grandparents, Kenneth McMillan Sr., Lois VanOrsdoll, Warren Ray, Dail Northup, Hildreth Abel and Jim Quire.
